pants version 2.0

I made these pants for Mae for Sew In Tune a few weeks back. If you remember I said that they were the third version of the pants that I had made. Well this was version 2.0.

I used the Pipe Leg Cargo Pant Pattern from Ottobre 1/2012. I omitted the cargo pockets and made them flat front with elastic in the back instead of adding a zipper fly. I added cuffs to the bottom and when I went to add the tabs, the legs were too skinny to cinch up. Darn it. I finished them anyway and now they can roll to cuff or be worn as regular black pants with fancy top stitching.

Mae loves green. So these pants will actually get worn!

boy play: o's

I love fruit loops.

The first time Mae crawled was to get a fruit loop. True fact.

When we were learning about the letter O a couple weeks ago we did this activity. Pretty simple concept: fruit loops (or cheerios) and a pipe cleaner. String them on and twist them into a shape. Hang them on a tree for the birds to find.

Thank you.

How incredibly supported and loved I felt over this past weekend as people stepped out to support me and voted for this outfit.  Unfortunately I didn't make the top two but incredibly talented people did. (Check out this Rainbow Heart Coat by Hayley.)

Designing for boys is definitely a disadvantage and because of that I was shocked my outfit was chosen in the top five. I will definitely sew along this season and hopefully by the next open auditions this sweet girl will be up to modeling for me.
To die for right?!

Thanks again for all the love!

oh my goodness!

On a whim I entered this outfit I made for Mae into open auditions for the next season of Project Run & Play. Much to my surprise it was picked as one of the top five finalist. Starting today, voting is open to determine the final two contestants for the season. Head over HERE to vote for your favorite.

Happy Friday!

project run & play

The next season of Project Run & Play will start in September.
They are holding open auditions, looking for two more designers to compete.
So here is my entry; complete with Mae being a total ham for the camera.
These pants are perfect for him. Cropped pants to play in the remainder of the summer or long as the weather becomes cooler. I used the flat front pant pattern from Dana of Made for the pant base and added details. Tutorial for the button tab coming later this week!
The t-shirt was made using the Raglan Tee Pattern from Sewing for Boys. Once again I tweaked the original pattern to create a bit of a different look.
The addition of the vest was a request from Mae, who loves the alligator print of the lining. You can read more about the vest HERE, which I made recently during KCWC.

boy play: alphabet eggs

I saw egg cartons for a scavenger hunt over on Elsie Marley awhile back. So we created our own version with the alphabet and some leftover plastic easter eggs.
Filled some of them with snacks: goldfish, raisens, pretzels, grapes, and peanuts. Hide them around the backyard and then sent Mae on the hunt.
He was so excited when he found snacks hiding inside!
