headband

You can learn a lot from people by following them on pinterest. Its also a great way to find ideas for gifts because people often pin things they want.

Back in March my friend had her birthday. Being out of town had allowed me to get birthday gifts done but of course weeks went by and this one never got delivered. I finally remembered to bring it along and wish her a happy birthday. I had done my research on her pinterest and found this photo. No pattern just a picture.

I did some research, tried a few things, thought about it, tried a few more things and finally came up with something I liked. Added a vintage button from my grandmother's collection and called it good.

PATTERN: crochet headband

10mm hook- size P (it's huge!)

Abbreviations:
ch = chain
sc = single crochet
slst = slip stitch
dc = double crochet

Form slip knot on your hook. Chain 40.

Row 1: ch 2   sc 5   dc 18   sc 17

Row 2: slst 17   dc 18   slst 5

Row 3: ch 2   sc 1   c1   sc 3   dc 18   sc 17 (button hole will form in this row)

Row 4: slst 17   dc 18   sc 17

Row 5: ch 2   sc 5   dc 18    sc 17

Weave in ends. Add button.

mustard

One of my best friend's had her birthday last Friday. Since I had been traveling the week prior I took my crochet hook and had picked up some wonderful mustard colored yarn. I made a yellow cowl that was crocheted flat and then added a twist to it when I put it in the round. It is similar to the infinity scarves that I have seen all over the web so it won't have a twist when looped once around.
I fell in love with it, which seems to happen every time I make a gift, but it looks so much better with her reddish hair.

travel

Another trip means more crochet. It is so nice to have a crafty project that is mobile. This one pulled inspiration from a couple different places. The top part came from this hat pattern, the same pattern I used for the earflap hat for Case. I finished it similar to this hat. And then added a pompom to the top. Definitely one I will make again.

Case-e Baby

This kid is getting so big so quick. As in eighteen pounds at four months so big! Mae started school this past week so I had a whole morning to hang out with just him. The light was good in our front room so got some pictures of him and then walked to the park so that he could swing. Of course by the time we get there he was fast asleep in the stroller. Got home in time to start a project for him before having to pick up Mae from school.

I often feel bad because so many of my projects these days are for Mae. Rarely am I making something for the little man. He has grown so quickly that it seems pointless to spend the time for something he will wear for a month or so. However when I came across this hat pattern on pinterest I knew I had to make him one.

It came together quickly and it was nice to be crocheting again. Have already started another for a gift.
